Getting Started
DragonScape Idle is led by its quests. You start with one skill, and every other skill is handed over by a quest, so the fastest way to open the game up is to follow the story. This page is the short version of the first few hours.
1. Follow the quests
The quest tracker at the top of the screen always shows your next step. Episode I is the tutorial: finish it and you hold most of the core skills.

The full list, episode by episode, is on the Quests page and on the painted Maps. Which quest opens which skill is on the Skills page.
2. Sign in early
You can play as a guest, and a guest save lives only in your browser. Signing in adds a cloud save: your character follows you between a phone and a computer, and clearing browser data no longer costs you the save.
3. Fight with the right style
Every monster is weak to one combat style. Attacking with that style gives +15% hit chance and +10% damage, and the wrong style takes the same penalty. Each monster page and area table names the style to use. The rules are on the Combat page.
Buy Auto-Eat before your first real fight: it is free. It is in Shop → Permanent Upgrades and eats food for you when your Hitpoints run low.
4. Leave something running
Whatever you were doing keeps going when you close the game, for up to 12 hours at first. Start a long action before you leave. Details are in Offline Progress.
5. Collect gems every day
Gems pay for permanent upgrades. The steady sources are the daily claim and the Weekly Quest Board, which pays 10 gems per quest. All sources and the best things to spend them on are in the Gems guide.
6. What to buy first
The Shop has a "Recommended for you" row. It shows the upgrades you can afford and meet the requirements for, in this order of priority:
| Priority | Upgrade | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Auto-Eat | Auto-heals during combat |
| 2 | Auto Farmer | Replants your fields, each pinned field with its own crop |
| 3 | 2nd Prayer Slot | Run 2 prayers at once |
| 4 | 3rd Prayer Slot | Run 3 prayers at once |
| 5 | Cow Skinner | +1 Cowhide per drop |
| 6 | Dragonskinner | 2× Dragonhide per drop |
| 7 | Loadout Mastery | Auto-picks style vs enemy weakness |
| 8 | All Quests Active | All your quests progress at the same time |
| 9 | Weekly Quester | Does your daily quests one after another |
| 10 | Ultimate Backup | Never idle: falls back to a gathering skill |
Prices and requirements for each are on the Permanent Upgrades page.
