Pets
Pets are collectible companions, each bound to one gathering skill. Assign up to 3 pets to mission slots and they generate passive, offline-capable resource income while leveling up over real time. Unlocked in Episode V by the quest chain The Wildwarden's Gate.

Getting pets — the Pet Box
Pets and shards come from the Pet Box (gacha), opened for
500 gems or a free Pet Key (a quest/event reward). Each box rolls one of the pets in the box pool (equal odds: 12 pets, or 13 once Echo joins) and grants 2–8 shards. An active Pet Pass also drops one free box per day. The two S-tier pets (Echo the Copy Cat and Pat the Rat) drop from the box at the same odds, but need 2.5x the shards per star. Echo only joins the box after you finish the Beastmasters' Guild Trials, which pay the 25 shards that unlock it.
Stars & shards
Spend a pet's shards to raise its star tier (up to 5★). Each star multiplies its income. Stars are the quality axis; level is the progress axis.
| Upgrade | Shards | Income at this tier (lv 1) |
|---|---|---|
| Unlock (0★) → ★ | 10 | 20% of a manual gatherer |
| ★ → ★★ | 20 | 25% of a manual gatherer |
| ★★ → ★★★ | 40 | 30% of a manual gatherer |
| ★★★ → ★★★★ | 60 | 35% of a manual gatherer |
| ★★★★ → ★★★★★ | 100 | 40% of a manual gatherer |
Total 230 shards to take one pet from locked to 5★.
Leveling
Assigned pets level up purely by real time on mission — no clicking. The curve runs to level 99 in about 10 days of assigned time (early levels are quick, the last few slow). Each level adds +2% income, so a level-99 pet earns ~3.0× a level-1 pet, and unlocks higher-tier resources.
A pet can never out-level your level in the skill it works, and it keeps going past 99 if you do — same curve, which doubles every 7 levels (level 120 ≈ 80 days on mission, level 130 ≈ 215 days), up to the hard cap of 999.
Income
A pet's throughput is a fraction of a player actively gathering:
income = 20% × star multiplier × (1 + 2% × (level − 1))
So a fresh 1★ level-1 pet gathers at ~20% of manual speed; a 5★ level-99 pet at roughly 118%. Income accrues offline up to a 24h cap — collect before it fills to keep earning.
Some pets work at a different base rate than 20%, because what they bring back is worth more or less than raw materials:
| Pet | Base rate | At 5★ level 99 |
|---|---|---|
Gil the Otter | 30% | 177.6% |
Sage the Rune Owl | 50% | 296% |
Quill the Porcupine | 4.5% | 26.6% |
Basil the Raccoon | 8% | 47.4% |
Ember the Salamander | 6.7% | 39.5% |
Sooty the Fox | 8% | 47.4% |
Cinder the Ram | 4% | 23.7% |

The Pets skill
Owning and running pets trains the player Pets skill. Pets-XP is time-based, not per-resource: every pet trains the skill at the same rate regardless of which resource it gathers, scaled by the same star × level multipliers as income (~350 XP/hr at 1★ lv 1). The resources a pet produces are loot on top.
