Frequently asked questions
Common questions about DragonScape Idle, answered from the game's own data and kept in step with each release.
Is DragonScape Idle free?
Yes. The entire game is free to play in a browser, and there is nothing to buy inside it. Every skill, quest, dungeon and item is reachable by playing. Supporting the developer on Patreon is optional and grants a larger daily gem bonus, but no content is locked behind it.
Do I need an account to play?
No. You can start playing immediately as a guest and your save is kept in your browser. Signing in with Google or an email address adds a cloud save, which is what lets you carry one character between a phone and a computer, and what protects your progress if you clear your browser data.
Does progress really continue while the tab is closed?
Yes, and it is simulated rather than approximated. When you come back the game replays the window you were away for, rolling the same actions and drops you would have got had you been watching, which means offline time can finish a quest objective or produce a rare drop. The window is capped at 12 hours by default and permanent shop upgrades raise that by up to 12 further hours.
Is there a mobile app?
The game is played in your phone's browser rather than from an app store today, and the interface is built for small screens. You can add it to your home screen from the browser menu, which gives it an icon and opens it without browser chrome.
How many skills are there, and what is the level cap?
There are 19 skills, and each runs from level 1 to level 99: Fishing, Woodcutting, Cooking, Mining, Smithing, Firemaking, Crafting, Fletching, Thieving, Exploring, Melee, Ranged, Magic, Hitpoints, Runecrafting, Farming, Prayer, Brewing and Pets.
How much content is in the game?
1,374 quests across 92 quest chains, 7 dungeons, 7 combat areas, 72 monsters, 735 items and 12 collectable pets. The XP rates guide on this wiki shows how long each skill takes to reach 99 using the game's own rate formulas.
Is it multiplayer?
No, it is a single-player game. There is a leaderboard and there are community events that every player contributes to, but there is no player trading and no shared economy.
I like RuneScape or Melvor Idle. Will I like this?
If the part you enjoy is training skills to 99, turning what you gather into gear and chasing rare drops, probably yes: that loop is the whole game, and it keeps running while the tab is closed. What it does not have is a shared world: there is no player trading, no player market and no PvP. DragonScape Idle is not affiliated with RuneScape or Jagex.
Is this RuneScape, or made by Jagex?
No. DragonScape Idle is an independent game made by one developer, and it shares no code, assets, artwork or affiliation with RuneScape or Jagex.
Can I lose my save?
A guest save lives only in the browser you played in, so clearing site data or switching device loses it. Signing in stores the save in the cloud, keeps an hourly backup history, and is the only way to move a character between devices.
Does the game use AI-generated art?
Yes, the item, monster and interface icons are AI-generated images. The game's code, systems, balance and written content are the developer's own work.
Where do I find drop rates and XP values?
On this wiki. Every stat page is generated directly from the game's data on each release, so the numbers here are the numbers the game runs on rather than a player's notes that can fall out of date.
Still stuck?
